Maela's artwork serves as a visual representation of her personal  journey towards reconciliation with the displacement she experienced  through religion, gender and race.

Maela expresses a  death and rebirth through artistic endeavour. Discovering placement in  the displacement while channelling the divine energy of the Hindu  goddess Kali. Maela’s performance takes you on a journey through pain and self-doubt to a place of love, acceptance, and celebration of one’s  heritage.
